Gardeners invited to enter the Gardens of Farnham competition
Farnham Town Council is inviting residents to show off their gardening achievements by entering the 2026 Gardens of Farnham competition.
Whether it’s a colourful cottage garden, a wildlife-friendly haven, a peaceful courtyard, or a creatively designed small space, gardeners of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to enter.
The competition aims to recognise the passion, creativity and hard work that local people put into making Farnham a greener, more vibrant place to live. It also highlights the important role gardens play in supporting wildlife, wellbeing and community pride.
Councillor Mat Brown, Lead Member for Environment says: “Farnham is home to some truly remarkable gardens, many of which are tucked away behind walls and hedges and rarely seen by others. The Gardens of Farnham competition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate these special spaces and the people who care for them. We encourage everyone to take part, regardless of the size of their garden or their gardening experience.“
There are seven categories to choose from including:
- Best courtyard/front garden
- Best garden
- Best wildlife friendly garden
- Best care or residential home
- Best hanging baskets or container
- Best pub frontage
- 2026 Madge Green Award
Residents from Badshot Lea, Hale, Upper Hale, The Bourne, Boundstone, Heath End, Moor Park, Rowledge, Weybourne, Wrecclesham and the town centre are welcome to enter. Judges will look for creativity, sustainability, planting diversity, and the overall enjoyment and character of each garden.
The deadline for entering the competition is Monday 6 July with judging scheduled for the last two weeks of July. Residents who are interested in entering can find full details, competition categories and entry information on Farnham Town Council’s website.
