Gardens of Farnham
Gardens of Farnham is an annual competition to find Farnham’s best secret gardens.
We look for imaginative gardens, wildlife havens, beautiful courtyards and creative hanging baskets and containers.Who can enter
The competition is open to residents and community groups in Farnham. This includes Badshot Lea, Hale, Upper Hale, The Bourne, Boundstone, Heath End, Moor Park, Rowledge, Weybourne, Wrecclesham and the town centre.The categories
There are seven categories, which include:- Best Courtyard / Front Garden
- Best Medium / Large Garden
- Best Wildlife Friendly Garden
- Best Care or Residential Home
- Best Hanging Baskets or Container
- Best Pub Frontage
- 2026 Madge Green Award
Judging Criteria
- Planting, annual bedding, shrub borders and other general planting
- Lawns
- Hedges
- Vegetables
- Compost areas
- Areas of Biodiversity
- Environmental responsibility such as using reduced-peat compost or rainwater harvesting
Deadline
The deadline for entering the 2026 competition is Monday 6 July.
Dates of judging
This year’s judging will take place over the last two weeks of July.
Awards’ Ceremony
The Awards’ Ceremony will take place on Thursday 8 October at 6pm at Squire’s Garden Centre, Badshot Lea.
The Madge Green Award
Open to all volunteer led community and conservation groups within Farnham.
This award celebrates community-led gardening, conservation and food-growing projects, including community gardens, conservation groups and small farms. Judges will look for collaboration, sustainability, benefits to wildlife, and positive impact on the local community.
