Farnham Lantern Festival
Farnham’s third Lantern Festival will take place on Thursday 29 October 2026.
The inspiration for the Festival comes from Samhain, the significant Celtic celebration that marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. It is a time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future.
The Festival will begin at 5pm with an outdoor gathering on Gostrey Meadow, where participants can showcase their lanterns, enjoy live music and admire the community’s creations to celebrate the end of Farnham Craft Month.
At 6.30pm, the procession will set off, with participants carrying their illuminated lanterns through the town centre to St Andrew’s Church where the lanterns will be displayed together as a large-scale community craft installation.
Community groups, faith groups, care homes, pubs, clubs, schools and informal groups of friends are all encouraged to take part.
Lantern kits will be available to purchase from Farnham Town Council on South Street, later in the year.
