Project gets underway to improve facilities at Gostrey Meadow
Work is underway to replace the sub-standard toilets at Gostrey Meadow with a brand-new multi-purpose amenity building.
As well as providing sustainable new toilets and baby changing facilities for visitors to the playground and Gostrey Meadow, the building will provide storage for equipment used at the many events that take place at the park. This new on-site storage arrangement will reduce the cost of transporting the equipment from other parts of town.
Councillor George Murray, Leader of Farnham Town Council says: “This project is being funded wholly by funds from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) on local developments and demonstrates a commitment by Farnham Town Council on improving services for local people. Thousands of people visit Gostrey Meadow every year for large community events such as the Christmas lights switch on, Music in the Meadow, Duck Race, carnival and more. It is only right that we invest in providing the facilities that people expect.”
The project also includes phase two of the playground upgrade. The historic Borelli shelter, which was damaged by a large tree, will be rebuilt and will house additional play equipment for younger visitors.
Updates on the project’s progress can be seen on Farnham Town Council’s website, or you can see for yourself by taking a look through the viewing panels in the hoarding.
Work on the amenity building and the playground extension is due to be completed by spring 2027.
