Mayor and Mayoress see difference made by Farnham Town Council grants

The Mayor and Mayoress of Farnham have been out and about this summer seeing first-hand the difference grants from Farnham Town Council are making in the community.

Through its 2026/27 grants programme, Farnham Town Council has awarded approximately £250,000 to worthy causes and community projects across the town.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Farnham, Councillor Graham and Judy White visited some of the recipients of grants from the school holiday activity fund and saw how children enjoyed taking part in organised and fun activities during the school break.

One of the organisations to benefit from a grant was Hive Helpers, which organised an opportunity for children to discover the world of bees through bee safaris and nature activities. The organisation’s work uses beekeeping and nature conservation to support the mental and physical wellbeing of children and adults in the local community.

Funding also helped The Chantrys Community Association provide activities for children and families including music and dance. The Association works with partners to provide activities that meet the needs of people living on The Chantrys estate and in the surrounding area.

For Challengers Farnham, a Town Council grant went towards inclusive play and leisure for disabled children and young people. The charity’s work helps tackle social isolation and gives families opportunities to enjoy activities together.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Graham White, says: “It was wonderful to meet the people behind the projects and to see how Town Council funding is benefiting our community. Whether it is helping children connect with nature, providing inclusive activities or bringing neighbours together, every project had a positive impact.

“Presenting the ‘Big Cheques’ was most rewarding and was a great way to celebrate the fantastic work being done by our local community groups and to see the difference that relatively small amounts of funding can make.”
