Farnham set to bloom thanks to the effort of volunteers
Volunteers who first responded to Farnham Town Council’s appeal for help with filling thousands of plant pots with soil have returned to complete the next stage of the process.
This time, the challenge was to pot on 11,000 plug plants into the containers they prepared back in February.
The plants which included calibrachoa, petunias, cosmos, geraniums, and marigolds will now be nurtured until they are big and strong enough to be planted out into the hanging baskets, troughs and containers in and around Farnham.
Iain Lynch, Town Clerk at Farnham Town Council says: “It was lovely to welcome back our new volunteers as well as established Bloomin’ Friends. It took just two sessions to complete the planting which is an impressive achievement. Thanks to the 20 plus volunteers who gave up their time and lent their enthusiasm, the wider community will be able to enjoy some beautiful floral displays this summer.”
With this task completed, Farnham Town Council is now looking for volunteers to help with the day-to-day care of Gostrey Meadow, West Street Cemetery and the planters at Farnham station. Anybody who is interested in getting involved should email [email protected] or see the Farnham in Bloom page for more information.
