Programme Highlights

Tenor Laurence Kilsby, winner of the 2022 Kathleen Ferrier Award and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, has been hailed by The Arts Desk for his “golden, honeyed and sensationally beautiful” voice and described by The Guardian as “the ultra-refined tenor.” His performances across the UK and Europe, including at Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, Salzburg Mozarteum and with ensembles including The Sixteen, have established him as one of the most compelling young voices of his generation.

He is joined by Ben Goldscheider, one of today’s most sought-after horn soloists. Since reaching the BBC Young Musician Final in 2016, his career has flourished internationally, he made his BBC Proms debut in 2022, has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus and major festivals across Europe, and has premiered over 50 new works for horn, expanding the instrument’s concert repertoire. His recordings on Chandos and Orchid Classics have been praised for their brilliance and depth, affirming his reputation as one of today’s leading horn soloists.

Together, they perform Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings – a haunting and evocative masterpiece that pairs English poetry with Britten’s luminous orchestration.

The programme continues with Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major, K.495, perhaps the most iconic piece of music for the horn, full of wit and lyric charm, and concludes with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op.11, a dazzling display of youthful invention written when the composer was just fifteen.

At the podium is Jonathan Bloxham, Conductor of the London Mozart Players, whose expressive energy and insightful direction make him one of Britain’s most exciting conductors. Together, these remarkable artists promise an evening of beauty, virtuosity and youthful vitality – an unforgettable highlight of the 2026 season.
