Community grants serve up a winning result for local tennis
The Mayor and Mayoress of Farnham have visited Badshot Lea Tennis Club to see how grants from Farnham Town Council are improving local sporting facilities and getting young people active.
A community grant for £1,750 has helped fund the restoration of the playing surface of the club’s two tennis courts while a second grant went towards putting on a school holiday activity for children. Hale Community Youth Tennis Project received £1,680, which enabled over 60 young people to take part in a tennis summer camp where they received tennis coaching and developed their game.
Councillor Graham White, Mayor of Farnham says: “It was a pleasure to see how Town Council funding is supporting both the facilities available to our community and opportunities for young people to get active, learn new skills and have fun. Our thanks go to everyone involved in these two very worthwhile projects.”
