Planning in Farnham

Find out about and comment on planning applications and planning policy for Farnham.

Farnham Town Council plays a vital advisory role in the planning process, representing local views on development and conservation across the town.

As a statutory consultee, the Council scrutinises a broad range of planning applications—from modest householder extensions to larger residential and commercial proposals—and submits formal observations to Waverley Borough Council.

While decisions rest with Waverley, Farnham Town Council focuses its input on matters that truly impact the community, such as heritage protection, traffic considerations, design quality, and environmental concerns.

The Council’s planning responsibilities are guided by Farnham’s Neighbourhood Plan (2013–2032), adopted via local referendum in April 2020. This Plan sets out the community’s vision and site-specific policies to shape future growth and maintain Farnham’s unique character.
