Thanks given to dedicated Farnham in Bloom volunteers
Farnham Town Council has paid tribute to the extraordinary community effort behind this year’s Farnham in Bloom success by hosting a special thank-you reception for volunteers.
In 2025, Farnham in Bloom volunteers contributed over 23,000 hours which is the equivalent of 12 full-time employees working all year round. Their efforts included helping with planting out thousands of plug plants for the hanging baskets, weeding, dead-heading and taking care of the planters around Farnham. Many additional unrecorded hours came from residents who quietly help throughout the year by litter-picking on their daily walks, watering planters and beds, tending hanging baskets and caring for green spaces.
The reception was generously hosted by The Bush Hotel, which is a long-standing supporter of Farnham in Bloom and a Silver Sponsor.
Speaking at the reception, the Deputy Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Graham White welcomed the volunteers and acknowledged how 2025 had been another fantastic year for Farnham in Bloom. He described how every volunteer had contributed to the collection of Gold awards achieved this year.
Councillor Mat Brown, Lead Member for Environment also thanked the volunteers and said: “This year, we’ve embraced the phrase ‘growing flowers and communities’ because your efforts have not only created a beautiful floral town for everyone to enjoy but also strengthened the connections between our communities across Farnham. Your enthusiasm, passion and care for what you do makes our day – you are all awesome.”
Councillor Brown also took the opportunity to look ahead to 2026. He said: “Farnham in Bloom is always growing so we would love to recruit even more volunteers to join our team. Giving just a couple of hours a week to help with planting, weeding, watering or litter picking can make a huge difference, and no experience is needed – just enthusiasm.”
Farnham in Bloom is one of Farnham Town Council’s most consistently successful award-winning initiatives. It brings people together, boosts wellbeing, supports the environment and wildlife and helps keep Farnham blooming all year-round.
