About Farnham in Bloom
Find out more about Farnham in Bloom including how it started and grew into a multi-award winning campaign.
Farnham in Bloom is Farnham’s entry into the annual South and South East in Bloom (S&SEiB) competition – a celebration of horticulture, community spirit and environmental responsibility.
What began as a small local initiative has grown into a much-loved project that brings colour and pride to the town. It involves local people, community groups, schools, and businesses, all working together to make lasting improvements to Farnham and the surrounding villages.
The competition is about much more than flowers. Entries are judged on:
- Horticultural achievement

A history of success
Since first entering South & South East in Bloom in 2008, Farnham in Bloom has achieved consistent success, including multiple Gold awards at both regional and national level. In 2024, Farnham won Gold and best in category at Britain in Bloom for its entry into the Town Centres and City Centres award and multiple gold awards at South and South East in Bloom.
The roots of Farnham in Bloom stretch back to 1989, when local businessman Ken Kent launched the idea to make Farnham “a beautiful place for all.” With the help of volunteers led by the late Madge Green, the project flourished. In 2005, Farnham Town Council took the lead, continuing to grow the legacy into what it is today.
