Annual events

A summary of community events that take place annually in Farnham.

Farnham has a long tradition of holding annual community events with many of them raising money for local charities.

Some events do not have websites but closer to the time, you will find that most organisers advertise the details on our events calendar or send details to the Farnham Herald.

April

Farnham Beer Exhibition – Beerex

Beerex is held at the Farnham Maltings every spring and is the longest-running beer festival to be held in the same place in this country. There are usually around 70 beers available from approximately 30 breweries. All profits are for the benefit of local charities.

May

Farnham Duck Race

The annual Duck Race is held on the River Wey adjacent to Gostrey Meadow. Races are held approximately every 20 minutes. There are also a number of stalls run by local charities. The Duck Race is held on the Saturday of the Bank holiday weekend that falls at the beginning of May.

Farnham Wellbeing and Sustainability Festival

Celebrating a more sustainable way of life: for our planet, community and wellbeing. Hosted in partnership between Farnham Town Council and Farnham Community Farm, enjoy a day of education, live music, food, local produce, craft, demonstrations and activities to celebrate local and sustainable.

Rowledge Village Fair

The Fair is held on the day before Spring Bank Holiday Monday on the Recreation Ground in the centre of Rowledge. There are traditional stalls, competitions and games and money is raised for local charities.

Weybourne Village Hall Feel Good Spring Fair

Enjoy a day of fun and community spirit with a variety of local groups and businesses, performances, art gallery and workshops focussed on having fun and feeling good. All proceeds go towards the upkeep and improvement of the village hall.

June

Wrecclesham Village Fete

A traditional fete held in June at Wrecclesham Recreation Ground.

Farnham Carnival

Held on the last Saturday in June in Farnham town centre. This annual event is organised by Farnham Lions and the Hedgehogs and has been taking place for several decades.

July

Hale Carnival and fete

Hale Carnival is held on the first Saturday in July. The carnival parades from Hale School to Hale Recreation Ground. The afternoon fete is a fun combination of live music, food, dance and traditional activities such as the dog show and children’s events.

Farnham Charity Bike Ride

The event is held in July and is organised by Farnham Round Table.

The Bourne Show

The Bourne Show is a traditional village show which is held in July and has taken place on the Bourne Green at Lower Bourne for over 50 years. It provides a great afternoon out for all the family and raises money for local charities and good causes.

September

Farnham Food Festival

A free annual event that marks the beginning of British Food Fortnight, Farnham’s Food and Drink Festival is now one of the biggest one-day food festivals in the South East of England and one of the most anticipated events in the Farnham calendar. Over 100 chefs, food and drink producers will tempt you with a range of delicious delights including street food, baked treats and unique cuisine. Located in Castle Street, The Borough and the Bush Hotel Courtyard, you can expect cookery demonstrations, food and drink stalls, talks and live music.

October

Farnham Craft Month

Every October, Farnham celebrates everything craft. Celebrating Farnham’s creative talent and World Craft Town status, Craft Month is an opportunity for everyone to engage with a vibrant programme of events offering workshops, open studios, pop-up shops, exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, talks and family friendly activities.

November

Farnham Fireworks and Torchlit Procession 

The annual fireworks display and bonfire is held in Farnham Park. The event is organised by Farnham Round Table on a Saturday around 5 November.

Venison Dinner

An annual dinner that dates back 400 years and was originally held to stop townsfolk from poaching deer from Farnham Park.

Farnham Christmas Lights Switch-On

The magic of Christmas in Farnham begins the moment the lights are switched on. Join the fun at this festive-filled afternoon of live entertainment from local schools, theatre groups, dance companies and bands. You can expect to find children’s rides, face-painting and a free Santa’s grotto.
