Civic Christmas Carol Service hits all the right notes
Guests were treated to a stellar performance by Farnham Youth Choir at the Mayor of Farnham’s Civic Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday (3 December) at St Andrew’s Church.
The congregation included members of the public who secured tickets through a public ballot, along with volunteers invited by Farnham Town Council as a thank you for their invaluable service to the community.
Under the direction of artistic director and conductor Patrick Barrett, Farnham Youth Choir performed a selection of exquisite carols which were complemented by impressive solo performances from several talented choir members.
The traditional service was led by the Reverend David Uffindell. Readings were shared throughout the service by the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor George Murray; HH Christopher Critchlow DL; Gemma McBride, Chair of Farnham Business Improvement District Board; Simon Porter, Trustee of Hale Community and Youth Centre; and Henry Jones who represented the young people of Farnham.
Councillor George Murray, Mayor of Farnham said: “I am honoured to have hosted the 13th Farnham Civic Christmas Carol Service and to have had the pleasure of hearing the internationally acclaimed Farnham Youth Choir performing in St Andrew’s Church, which plays such a central role in the life of the town and community. I would like to thank everybody who contributed to the service and made it such a memorable event.”
The service ended with an organ voluntary by Matthew Rickard, followed by a retiring collection that raised over £700 for the Mayor’s charity, Hale Community and Youth Centre.
