Protect our beautiful Surrey, wildlife and property this summer

Between 2024-2025, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) attended 233 wildfires.

Already this year, we’ve witnessed 564 wildfires in England and Wales – more than double the number during the same time in 2022, which was a busy year for wildfires. It’s also a 717% increase on wildfire incidents for the same period in 2024.

The wildfire on Crooksbury Road, Tilford in May affected two hectares of land, which is about 5 football pitches and the wildfire on Frensham Common during April was caused by a bonfire.

So far this year, there have been 564 wildfires in England and Wales—more than double the number during the same time in 2022, which was a busy year for wildfires. It’s also a 717% increase on wildfire incidents for the same period in 2024.

Help our fire and rescue service keep Surrey prepared by:

  • Packing a picnic instead of a BBQ
  • Do not hold campfires or bonfires
  • Take your litter home with you, or pop it in a nearby bin
  • Ensure cigarettes are put out properly
  • Talk to young people about fire safety and how important it is not to play with fire.
