We are delighted to partner with DAiSY – Disability Arts in Surrey for a commissioned residency for a Surrey based artist with a disability.

Kate Kennington Steer welcomes the gallery visitors for informal conversations and activities in the Balcony Gallery about Farnham and the Brightwells development. Kate operates an Open Access Studio on Tuesdays from 11am-3pm. Please contact the gallery for the further details.

During the Heritage Open Weeks, Kate aims to be in the gallery from 11am-3pm on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th, Tuesday 12th, Friday 15th, Saturday 16th September. We recommend that you call us before visiting.

Kate is a writer, photographer and visual artist and a member of the Creative Response Arts community in Farnham. She will be combining paint, print, photography and poetry to focus on the Brightwell’s Yard development in Farnham: how does an historic site change over time; how does changing the built environment affect not only the lives of the end users and local residents it was designed for, but also impact those who are using their different crafts and trades to make a place which incorporates the old with the new. Kate hopes to hear a wide variety of experiences, recollections, stories and views from the local community, and to integrate them into her work as a way of (re)imagining a ‘bright-well’ at the heart of Farnham.’

The residency is supported by Arts Council England.
