Discover art in Farnham

Outside of red brick building

Farnham really is a Craft town. Attracting the creative of all ages and disciplines to discover, learn and enjoy art and craft

Farnham really is a Craft town. Attracting the creative of all ages and disciplines to discover, learn and enjoy art and craft for a day event at the Farnham Maltings; a week visiting local galleries or a year studying at the University for the Creative Arts. However long you have, Farnham will bring out your creative side.

A day of inspirational art

Begin your day in the historic town centre near St Andrew’s Church and visit the free New Ashgate Gallery, where you can pick up beautiful and unique gifts. Walk over the river Wey to the Farnham Maltings for a quick coffee then on to the Craft Study Centre for another free exhibition of ceramics and textiles. Located next to the University of the Creative Arts, the James Hockey public gallery often has work on view. Check their website for details.

After a quick lunch in town head out to Wrecclesham for a Farnham Pottery class (booking essential) or immerse yourself in sculpture at the Sculpture Park in Churt with over 600 sculptures set in ten acres of arboretum.

A short break into arts and crafts

Put your hands on the wheel at Farnham Pottery with 318 Ceramics or West Street Potters; attend one of the international craft exhibitions at the Farnham Maltings or try one of the many vanishing skills at the Rural Life Centre for a few days and stay locally enjoying the wealth of local places to eat and drink.

With more time on your hands you will be able to discover Watts Gallery and chapel near Guildford or the award winning Lightbox in Woking. In June each year you can visit Surrey’s artists in residence throughout the open studio month.
