Farnham Town Council invites people to volunteer for the environment

Farnham Town Council is inviting people to get involved in its award-winning Farnham in Bloom campaign by volunteering for the environment.

The Bloomin Communities Group Fair takes place on Saturday 25 March and provides an opportunity for potential volunteers to meet some of the organisations that help make Farnham bloom. Visitors will be able to find out more about what the organisations do and the help they need. The fair is at Gostrey Meadow from 10am to 1pm.

Councillor Sally Dickson, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “On the same day as the Communities Group Fair, we have also organised our annual spring litter pick. There are two ways for people to get involved. You can either take part in an organised pick of the town centre from 10am to 12noon or you can organise a litter pick of your own during the Great British Spring Clean. By volunteering for the environment, people can give back to their community, meet new people, learn a skill, and make a difference. Whatever you decide to do, I thank you for helping to keep Farnham bloomin’ and tidy!”

The Great British Spring Clean is from Saturday 25 March to Monday 10 April. People wishing to get involved can choose a location where they want to litter pick, recruit some willing friends or family and then reserve litter picking equipment by notifying Farnham Town Council at bloom@farnham.gov.uk.

Farnham Town Council is also seeking volunteers to help out at a town-wide event, which is being planned for the weekend of King Charles III’s Coronation. If you are interested in helping out at this momentous occasion, please do look out for details at www.farnham.gov.uk.
