See the stunning snow scenes in Farnham’s shop windows

Snowy scene of a Christmas tree and ballerina on a shop window

Christmas shoppers in Farnham can expect a visual treat as over 20 local shops have signed up to host stunning snow scenes on their windows. The project, which is organised by Farnham Town Council with support from the town’s business community and Waverley Borough Council, follows last year’s highly successful snow windows initiative which attracted an unprecedented amount of publicity.

“Snow windows are back for 2022 by popular demand!” says Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Tourism and Events. “This week, each of the participating businesses is having a beautiful snowy scene sprayed onto their shop windows. Just like Christmas lights and a town centre tree, the aim is to create a Christmassy atmosphere that is unique to Farnham. We want to make Farnham even more appealing for local people and to encourage people to shop locally this Christmas.”

Thanks to local funding, Farnham Town Council has once again brought in Snow Windows, the specialist window designers, to create the designs, each of which is tailored to its setting.

The snow scenes will form part of a trail which shoppers and children can follow. The map will be in the Christmas in Farnham guide which will be available from Farnham Town Council and it will also be on Discover Farnham, the town’s new walking app which can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play Store.  People who spot all the snow windows will be able to enter a prize draw to win a hamper.

A similar initiative last year resulted in a video of the snowy scenes going viral on social media and receiving over 10 million views. Farnham Town Council and local retailers hope this year’s window designs will be just as popular and encourage more shoppers to come to the town centre.

Last year’s snow windows included rustic village scenes, representations of wildlife and children playing in the snow. Each one is intricately detailed and makes full use of the window, creating an eye-catching scene.
