The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Pat Evans has carried out her first informal visit since the easing of lockdown.

Together with her consort David Evans, the Mayor visited space2grow which is one of the Mayoral charities. Space2grow is a community garden in the heart of Farnham and offers a safe and non-judgemental place for people with health issues.

Councillor Evans says: “I last saw the space2grow acre at the end of winter, so I noticed some big changes this week. Although the project was closed during lockdown, two volunteers kept things ticking over and they have done an admirable job. The vegetable garden looks wonderful and the wildflower garden is stunning.”

While maintaining social distance at all times, the Mayor and her consort had the pleasure of meeting some of the space2grow volunteers. They also saw a new pontoon that is being built by people who attend the Men in Sheds project. The project has been funded by the Mayor’s charity and is progressing really well. The pontoon is expected to be completed at the end of July and will be officially opened by the Mayor.

As a token of thanks for visiting, the Mayor was presented with some freshly harvested potatoes, garlic and vegetables which she later described as having been ‘delicious’!
