Farnham’s Spring Festival

Farnham’s Spring Festival on Sunday 27 May is set to be better than ever with sporting masterclasses, a mini funfair, music from five live bands plus street food and refreshments. Festival-goers can even try out sumo wrestling and traditional Japanese drumming with Farnham Taiko Drumming! The Festival takes place in Gostrey Meadow from 12-6pm and is free to attend.

“Our annual Spring Festival is always a day packed with community spirit and lively fun for families, couples and groups of friends,” says Iain Lynch, Town Clerk at Farnham Town Council. “If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out sumo wrestling – complete with inflatable sumo suits. If that sounds too energetic, simply while away the afternoon at the pop-up craft stall, our Farnham in Bloom planting workshop or just make the most of the refreshments area while you listen to the bands. Thanks to our sponsors Momo Station and Trueman & Grundy, it is completely free to come along and enjoy the music.”

Also taking place at the Festival will be the Otter Wey Art Trail. The trail begins at the meadow and follows a route around model otters decorated by professional, amateur and community group artists and sponsored by local organisations. The guided trails will start at 10am (3.7miles), 11am (1.8miles) or 2pm (2.5miles) and places can be booked online via the Walking Festival page and at Breaking Free in The Borough.

Creative Response Arts is running a charity tea tent and as well as traditional stalls and refreshments, local businesses and community groups such as Farnham Chiropractic Wellness and Lovelight Photography will also have stands.

Among the bands are the opening act Eden Blacklist, followed by the Arc Band, the Choir Company and the A31s. Much loved local favourites Farnham Ukulele Jam will close the afternoon’s music. Featuring a selection of original songs and popular covers, the music should entertain all ages from tots to grandparents. See the Spring Festival page for more information.
