Mayor hands over grant to CAB

Volunteers at Farnham Citizens’ Advice have welcomed the Mayor of Farnham and other town councillors to their offices in South Street, Farnham for a briefing on their work. The visit also provided an opportunity for the Mayor to hand over a community grant of £13,360 to the local advice service from Farnham Town Council.

“The work that volunteers at Citizens Advice do in Farnham is as fascinating as it is important, covering an enormous range of subjects around legal and financial matters, information around benefits and much more,” says Councillor Mike Hodge, the Mayor of Farnham. “I’d like to thank the volunteers for their hard work and dedication,” he adds.

Councillor Hodge was accompanied by a number of other councillors in a special drop-in event where volunteers explained to them how they provide information and advice to local people in need face-to-face, over the phone, online and by email.

The grant provides Farnham Town Council’s funding to the service for 2017/18. As well as its office at Montrose House in South Street, Citizens Advice Waverley also operates an outreach service for Farnham at Sandy Hill Community Bungalow, Upper Hale Road as well as offices in Haslemere, Godalming and Cranleigh.

Farnham Town Council provides grants for numerous local projects and organisations, providing details and application forms on its website. Information about Citizens Advice Waverley, including opening times and online help, can be found at www.waverleycab.org.uk.
