Music lovers turn out in hundreds

‘twentyfivemiles’, a local motown, soul and R’n’B covers band attracted a crowd of 600 to the first Music in the Meadow concert for 2017 on Sunday.

The free concert was sponsored by Headcase Barbers and organised by Farnham Town Council. The charity tea tent was hosted by The Woodlark Centre, which is one of the charities to be supported by the Mayor of Farnham during his Mayoral year. A plentiful supply of hot drinks and delicious cakes saw the charity raising £320.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Thank you to everybody who came along to support our opening Music in the Meadow concert. The concerts are a real family affair with several generations coming along to enjoy the music.

“As well as having some wonderful musical acts lined up for 2017, we have also introduced some new garden games such as jumbo Jenga, snakes and ladders, cannonball drop and Connect Four. The games can be enjoyed by all age groups and have been very well received.”

The summer events’ programme is sponsored by Kidd Rapinet solicitors. The next event is Dance in the Meadow and this will start at the earlier time of 2pm on Sunday 11 June. The afternoon will be dedicated to dance and will be a celebration of all the wonderful dance that happens in Farnham.
