Farnham Town Council and a local resident have worked together to enhance a small corner of Farnham.

Jane Marley who lives just outside the town centre, approached Farnham Town Council to ask for permission to donate and plant a tree on a grassy area near where she lives.

Farnham Town Council’s outside services team advised on a suitable species of tree and dug the hole.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement attended the tree planting and said: “We are always pleased to receive suggestions for improving the local environment and are grateful to Jane Marley for kindly donating the tree.

“The tree she has chosen is a mountain ash, which is also known as a rowan tree and is native to the UK. Come the autumn, it will be covered in vibrant coloured berries and will bring a lovely splash of colour to the road.”

Speaking after the tree planting, Jane Marley said: “We are looking forward to seeing the tree come into leaf and producing the berries later in the year. I am sure it will add something to our close.”
