Young gardeners were inspired to roll up their sleeves and get planting at Farnham Town council’s recent free Bloomin’ Kids Gardening Workshops.
Volunteers from Badshot Lea Bloomers led the activities and passed on knowledge and practical skills to the group of young people.
The youngsters planted onion sets, peas, tomatoes, sunflowers, sweet peas and calendula which they were able to take home to nurture.
Councillor Mat Brown, Lead Member for Environment said: “The children had a lot of fun and learnt so much. As well as planting there were also craft activities which included making greetings cards, wreaths and painting.
“Farnham Town Council has been running these gardening workshops for many years. Gardening is a life-long skill, and it gives me pleasure to think how some of the early participants may now have their own homes and will be continuing to grow their own!”
Farnham Town Council is grateful to volunteers from Badshot Lea Bloomers, The Chantrys and Hale Community Centre for helping out at the workshops.
