Farnham Food and Drink Festival offers fun and free day out

Farnham town centre is set to be taken over by the Farnham Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 25 September. The hugely successful festival, which is organised by Farnham Town Council and supported by Gold sponsors the Bush Hotel, Farnham Veterinary Hospital and Kidd Rapinet, is free to visit and will feature over 100 stallholders selling food and drink from around the globe alongside specialisms local to Surrey and the south east.

Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Tourism and Events, who will be at the festival, says: “Our food and drink festival is now one of the biggest and most successful one-day festivals in the south east. It is extremely popular with visitors, who come from far and wide, and much loved by local people too as a fun and free day out.”

The festival takes place in Castle Street, The Borough and the Bush Hotel courtyard from 10am to 4pm and, Farnham’s regular farmers’ market is on the same day in Central car park from 10am to 1pm.

Castle Street and The Borough will be closed to traffic so a shuttle bus will operate from residential areas to the town centre throughout the day.

“The breadth of stallholders and experts at this year’s festival is astounding. If you are interested in food-related topics such as healthy eating and drinking, sustainability or seasonal produce, the festival is for you, too,” says Councillor Mirylees.

The festival has a growing reputation among foodies for presenting the best in terms of quality, range and innovation of food, alcoholic and soft drinks, ingredients, cooking equipment and gadgets. The organisers also attract renowned chefs and experts to present demonstrations and meet visitors in question and answer sessions.

Farnham Town Council expects the town centre to be very busy throughout the day and advises people to avoid driving to the festival but to use the shuttle bus, walk or cycle instead.
