Open air music and food

Crowd of people sitting on grass clapping and looking happy.

An afternoon of live music, street food and impromptu picnics comes to Gostrey Meadow on Sunday 1 July when Picnic in the Park takes place, marking the end of another successful carnival weekend in Farnham. The fun will begin at 11.20am with performances by Farnham Music and Drama.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events at Farnham Town Council says: “Bring a picnic or enjoy a feast from our street food stalls. Choose from Thai, gourmet hot dogs, crepes – or see what else you can discover. You can also treat yourself to a fresh fruit mocktail or a glass of fizz!”

Performing live on the big stage at Gostrey Meadow will be Vic Cracknell’s Swing Band, contemporary folk band The Salts, Grandpa Spells Jazz Band, Betsa and Farnham Ukulele Jam. The music will play non-stop until 6pm.

Picnic in the Park is organised by Farnham Town Council and is part of the summer programme of events which is sponsored by Kidd Rapinet Solicitors.

The Council expects over a thousand people to come to Gostrey Meadow to enjoy the afternoon which has become a much-loved part of Farnham’s summer season. It hopes families and groups of friends will bring their picnic blankets and deck chairs and settle in for an afternoon of entertainment and community spirit Farnham-style. As well as the food stalls, there will be face-painting, arts and crafts and a mini funfair for children.
