Sponsors, volunteers and members of the public recently attended Farnham Town Council’s greenhouse open day for a preview of Farnham in Bloom.

Members of the Farnham in Bloom team took great pride in showing visitors some of the preparation work that goes into producing Farnham’s floral displays. Throughout the year, a record 26,000 plug plants have been nurtured to ensure they are ready for planting out in the hundreds of hanging baskets and containers that will soon appear in and around Farnham.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Farnham in Bloom said: “We have a new team working behind the scenes of Farnham in Bloom this year and they found it really encouraging to see so many people showing an interest in their work. They were also proud to be able to show sponsors their hanging baskets. We find that sponsoring a hanging basket is popular with businesses that want a lovely display outside their premises and individuals who want to celebrate a special occasion or to pay tribute to a loved one.”

It costs £60 to sponsor a hanging basket which is watered and maintained by the in Bloom team throughout the summer. Baskets are displayed from June to October and each sponsor’s name is included on the Farnham in Bloom sponsors’ board in South Street alongside Corporate Sponsor Specsavers and Gold Sponsors The Farnham Institute Charity, The Patio Black Spot Removal Company, Forest Lodge Garden Centre, Squire’s Garden Centre and Wildflower Turf.
