Flowers brighten commuters’ day

Commuters have enjoyed a brighter welcome to Farnham station over the summer thanks to the support of former local train operator South West Trains, which donated £500 to Farnham in Bloom towards the cost of three troughs for the station platform.

“For Farnham’s train commuters, the train platform is the last thing they see as they set off to work and the first that they see when they get home in the evening so I hope the floral display has been bringing cheer to their daily travel,” says Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Farnham in Bloom.

Richard Kempton, Community Rail Manager says: “It was great to be a part of Farnham in Bloom this year by contributing to the new planters. I hope the colourful display helped create a positive first impression of the town to visitors.”

The flowers and greenery in the troughs complemented existing planting by Forest Lodge Garden Centre and Graduate Landscapes, Gold sponsors of Farnham in Bloom 2017.

The new troughs supplement Farnham Town Council’s existing improvements to Farnham station which, as well as other planting schemes, includes smartening up two nearby bus stops.
