Grant helps disadvantaged young

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Mrs Pat Frost has visited a local charity to find out more about a project that was funded by a Farnham Town Council community grant.

Change of Scene works with disadvantaged children who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. The charity applied for the grant so they could provide fun and educational activities during the summer holidays for the children with whom they regularly work.

Sue Weaver, Voluntary Chief Officer from Change of Scene says: “We were delighted to receive the cheque for £800. We work with some of the most disadvantaged children across Surrey and Hampshire whose family circumstances mean they have little or no access to holiday activities. The financial support that we received from Farnham Town Council helped us to continue with fulfilling our aim to make a life-changing difference for the children who are most in need.”

Councillor Mrs Pat Frost, Mayor of Farnham says: “I was very impressed to hear how Change of Scene is helping local six to 18 year olds to achieve their full potential. Many of the young people have been excluded or expelled from school but the personal, one-to-one approach adopted by Change of Scene has enabled over 70 per cent of its young people to re-engage with mainstream education.”

Change of Scene has helped or is helping 11 young people from Farnham. Further information about the charity can be found at
