Young adults grow a carnival float

Young adults from the Farnham-based organisation Post 19 have been putting the finishes touches on Farnham Town Council’s carnival float.

The float will incorporate twenty-five years of Farnham in Bloom with the theme of this year’s carnival, which is Waterloo. Hundreds of flowers and plants have been grown and nurtured by young adults from Post 19. These are now being planted up into containers which will decorate the float.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “The young adults from Post 19 are working really hard to create their float – I’m sure it is going to look stunning. As well as getting ready for the carnival the Farnham in Bloom team has started to put up the hanging baskets and to plant the various containers situated around the town. The colour combinations are lovely and the flowers should be looking at their best by time the judges arrive on 9 and 10 July.”

He adds: “The twenty-fifth anniversary of Farnham in Bloom is being sponsored by BBS Ltd, suppliers of Magimix products. There is still time to get involved in this year’s special anniversary year by sponsoring a hanging basket, entering the Secret Garden competition or perhaps organising a litter pick in the area where you live or work. We would like everyone to consider doing a little extra in their garden or on their window ledge this year to make our anniversary a year to remember.”
