Picnic and music in Farnham

Crowd of people in park, with stage and bunting

Farnham’s carnival weekend will end on a relaxing note with this year’s Picnic in the Park. The free annual picnic and music event, which is organised by Farnham Town Council, will take place at Gostrey Meadow on Sunday 28 June from 12 to 5pm.

The afternoon will be filled with live music by local musicians. The line-up includes performances by the Brass Monkeys, the Danny Lee Band and the Vic Cracknell Band. The music will be a mix of original songs and covers from the 1950s up to present day.

There will be a number of food and drink stalls plus face painting and entertainment for children.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Picnic in the Park is a popular event in the town’s social calendar. The large stage, which also serves as a focal point for the previous day’s carnival, will provide a perfect professional setting for the bands to perform. Everybody is welcome to come along and to bring a picnic to enjoy with friends and family.”

The Duke of Cambridge in Tilford is the principal sponsor for Picnic in the Park 2015. To complement their passion for al fresco dining, they will be selling individual picnic boxes made using fresh and local ingredients. They will also have a delicious sparkling wine on offer for those who would like something bubbly.

Anybody who buys a picnic box will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to any O2 Academy venue event of their choice.
