Young musicians take to the stage

Local, young people showcased their talent at a special Music in Meadow on Sunday.

More than 400 people attended the event, which saw a number of performers entertaining the audience. First on stage was 12-year-old Cassidy who sang Year 3000 by Busted and songs by Katy Perry.

Five other acts took to the stage performing a mix of their own material and covers by well-known artists.

Cllr Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member of Tourism and Events says: “It was great to be able to offer some fantastic, local talent the opportunity to perform live to an audience of several hundred people. The bands were very well received and I look forward to hearing more from them in the future.”

The Farnham Maltings brought along a pop up craft activity and Arthritis UK provided the refreshments.

The next Music in the Meadow is sponsored by Stagecoach Theatre Arts and will take place on Sunday 13 July. Woking Wind Orchestra will perform a selection of shaker hymns and songs from the 1920s. The charity refreshment tent will be hosted by Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society.
