In response to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of organisations have come together to donate an initial £22,000 towards the creation of the Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund.

About the support fund
The Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund aims to provide financial support or assistance to individuals and families in Farnham who find themselves in exceptional circumstances due to the pressures caused by lockdown, social distancing and coronavirus.
What help is available
Applications for up to £300 are invited from Farnham residents who need urgent assistance with essentials such as:
- Paying for gas or electric
- Providing food
- Replacing an essential household appliance such as a cooker
- Acquiring equipment eg wheelchair, care alarm service etc
- Getting furniture and household items like a bed and bedding
- Other urgent needs.
Other advice and support will be available from other partner organisations.
How to donate
The Farnham Herald launched a fundraising campaign on 30 April to increase the Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund to £50,000 so that even more people in Farnham can be helped. This target has been reached but donations can still be made to help a Farnham person or family in need.

Farnham Lions are processing donations through their Gift Aid page. This is for administrative purposes and will enable you to give Gift Aid should you wish to do so.

All money donated will be added to the appeal fund and for audit purposes, strict records will be kept of all donations and payments made.

Your application will need to be supported by a referee such as a head teacher, GP, social worker or health visitor.
They will need to know about your situation and if we contact them, they should be able to confirm the details of your request for help.
How applications are assessed
Your application will be assessed by a panel of people who represent the organisations that have contributed to the Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund.
We expect to tell you the outcome of your application within days of you applying.
Information for referrers
To be considered, applications generally need to be supported by a referee such as a social worker, GP, home school link worker, head teacher, health visitor, nurse or applicable voluntary organisations.
If you are asked to be a referee, thank you for your support. You will need to:
- Be able to confirm the applicant’s situation
- Provide a covering letter or email
- Give your name, occupation and contact details so we can contact you to verify details.
