Allotment Events and Competitions 2019

Thursday 4 April – Allotment Lecture – 7pm-9pm, at Farnham Town Council

A Gardeners’ Question Time featuring a Council Representative, Allotment Reps Lynne Watson and Gerard Nicholson and local gardening guru, John Negus who will answer your questions on a range of gardening related challenges! Please send in your questions in advance and register to attend by emailing lara.miller@farnham.gov.uk

W/C 22 April – Scarecrow Judging

The theme of this year’s scarecrow competition is ‘Fly me to the Moon’ to celebrate the anniversary of the first landing on the moon and tie in with the Farnham Carnival. Have your scarecrow standing proud on your allotment plot ready to be judged! Be sure to let us know in advance if you have taken part so we don’t miss your creation.

Saturday 25 May – BBQ & Seed Swap – 5pm-7pm at West Street Allotments, West Street, GU9 7AP

An enjoyable evening of food and plant swapping with fellow allotment holders. Please bring your own food and drink and plants for swapping!

W/C 3 June – Allotment Plot Judging

Judging will take place during this week. Ensure your plot is looking tip top for a chance to win some gardening vouchers at the annual Farnham in Bloom Awards ceremony.

Wednesday 3 July – 10am-12pm – Summer Visit to Wildflower Turf Ltd at Ashe Warren Farm

Enjoy a two-hour private tour of the UK’s leading dedicated wildflower specialists farm in Ashe Warren complete with refreshments. The visit is free but please register to attend by emailing lara.miller@farnham.gov.uk

W/C 12 August – Tallest Sunflower Judging

Sunflowers will be measured on all sites with the tallest one winning the prize. Plant a few sunflowers now and be amazed at how tall they will grow with a bit of T.L.C! Be sure to let us know in advance if you have taken part so we don’t miss your sunflowers!

Sunday 1 September – Farnham Allotment Show

This year the Allotment Show will be run in conjunction with our Music in the Meadow event in Gostrey Meadow. Times and show category information will be released soon. All entrants must pre-register for the categories they will be taking part in.

W/C 30 September – Largest Pumpkin Judging

Measuring will take place during this week and the pumpkin with the largest girth will be the winner! Once again, be sure to let us know in advance if you have taken part so we don’t miss your pumpkins!

Saturday 5 October – D.T. Browns Seed Scheme

11am at West Street Allotments, West Street, GU9 7AP to collect a catalogue and order form.

October – Farnham in Bloom Awards – Date TBC – 6pm at Squire’s Garden Centre, Badshot Lea

Invitation only to all winners of the Allotment competitions.
