Join in Farnham Lantern Festival
Farnham’s second Lantern Festival will take place on Friday 31 October 2025, offering a magical and creative alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.
Rooted in the Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, the Lantern Festival is a chance for the community to gather, reflect, and look ahead together.
Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Culture says: “For weeks, people of all ages and from all corners of the community have been busy making lanterns. There are some wonderful creations from schools, businesses, faith groups, clubs and families. I am really looking forward to the procession and seeing how the lanterns light up the night with colour.”
The family-friendly Lantern Festival starts at 5pm at Gostrey Meadow where there will be live music and the chance to admire the glowing lanterns. At 6.30pm, there will be a procession to St Andrew’s Church where the lanterns will be displayed as part of a stunning large-scale community artwork.
Anybody who would like to make a lantern can buy a kit from Farnham Town Council for £5, available while stocks last.
The Lantern Festival concludes October Craft Month which has been a month-long celebration of craft. For more information visit www.farnhamcrafttown.com.
