Farnham celebrates volunteers who make a difference every day

Published: Friday June 5, 2026

During Volunteers’ Week Farnham Town Council has taken the opportunity to recognise the hundreds of volunteers whose dedication, enthusiasm and generosity help make the town such a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and visit.

From supporting community events and caring for green spaces to helping local organisations and charities, volunteers play a vital role in enriching life across Farnham. Their efforts often take place behind the scenes, but their impact is felt by residents and visitors alike.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Graham White says: “Volunteers are at the heart of our community. Their commitment and willingness to give their time make a real difference to the lives of so many people. During Volunteers’ Week, we want to say thank you to everyone who volunteers in Farnham. Whether you give an hour, a day or many years of service, your contribution is valued and appreciated.”

Particular thanks go to the volunteers involved in Farnham in Bloom, whose hard work throughout the year helps create the stunning floral displays, community planting projects and environmental initiatives that have earned Farnham national recognition. Their commitment not only enhances the town’s appearance but also brings people together and encourages civic pride.

Farnham’s busy calendar of events would also not be possible without volunteers. Whether assisting at annual events such as the Food Festival, Remembrance Sunday or the Christmas Market, helping with one-off community celebrations, supporting arts and cultural activities, or providing practical help on the day, volunteers contribute countless hours to ensure events run successfully.

The town is equally grateful to those who volunteer regularly throughout the year and those who step forward to help with a single project or event. Every contribution matters, and every volunteer helps strengthen the community.

The Mayor says: “There’s no doubt that volunteers make the town a better place for everyone. If you know of somebody who deserves extra special recognition, please do consider nominating them for a Services to Farnham award. Full details about how to do this can be found on Farnham Town Council’s website.”
