We believe in providing high quality craft access and skills to all and we are delighted to present an exciting, free-to-attend, family programme, which includes the following events:

Mon 23 October, 11-12.30: HALLOWEEN CROSS STITCH with Jane Browne Create a Halloween motif in cross stitch with Jane Browne, the Surrey Artist of the Year 2022. There will be a choice of image and all materials will be provided including needle and threads. Instructions will be given for beginners and those wishing to improve. You can take your motif home in a box with extra thread to finish if necessary. Booking is required.

Tue 24 October, 11-12.30: PAPER MAKING with Charlotte Karin Design Learn to make paper; the children will have a brief introduction into preparing scrap paper and making it into pulp before immersing themselves into the active part of making paper by hand. They will be layering different types of textured paper and create compositions by trapping materials between surfaces. Dried leaves from walks around Farnham to press into the paper to emboss of embellish will be provided. This workshop is derived from a conscious effort to stop paper waste and re-transform it in new ways. Booking is required.

Tue 24 October, 2-4: NATURE TILES with Kerry Lemon Air clay master class workshop. Join artist Kerry Lemon to celebrate the launch of her new public art tile trail through Farnham and create your own air dry clay tiles inspired by nature. Open for adults and young people aged 15+; under 18-year-olds must attend with a guardian. Booking is required.

Wed 25 October, 10.30-1.30: BIG DRAW with Gerri Besgrove Drop in to join Farnham Art & Design Education Group’s (FAGEG’s) 16th community Big Draw. Artist Gerri Besgrove will lead you through an exploration of the senses, being in the moment to make a mindful response to mark making. Open to both adults and children. No booking is required.

Thur 26 October,10.30-1.30: BIG DRAW with Gerri Besgrove Drop in to join Farnham Art & Design Education Group’s (FAGEG’s) 16th community Big Draw. Artist Gerri Besgrove will lead you through an exploration of the senses, being in the moment to make a mindful response to mark making. Open to both adults and children. No booking is required.

HOW TO TAKE PART:

All craft activities take place in the Balcony Gallery at New Ashgate as part of the Farnham Craft Month activities. The address is Waggon Yard, Farnham GU9 7PS.

No previous craft experience is required. Admission is free. A parent or a guardian must attend with the child / children under 18 years of age.

We work in partnership with FADEG and Draw Farnham for the Big Draw events.

New Ashgate workshops are supported by Waverley Bourough Council, South Street Trust and Farnham Town Council.
