Out There: with Klara Smith and David Le Page Tuesday 15 October – 19:30 Farnham Maltings Riverside Café

Surrey-based paper artist Klara Smith’s work will be displayed in the Riverside Café during Farnham Craft Month. In celebration of this, join us for a unique collaboration between papercutter Klara and violinist David Le Page.

The one-hour performance of original music composed and played by David will accompany the projected images of Klara’s work.

“The finesse and fieriness of his playing is always top-notch, but more than that, his unique sense of creativity infuses everything he does. His own music has a strong personal voice, full of improvisatory flair and independence of thought – and, like his interpretations of the classical repertoire, seems driven by a deeply poetic spirit.”

About Klara Smith

Armed with a scalpel and solid knowledge of print design, Klara is a paper artist and freelance graphic designer. Her papercut illustrations work on several levels – as the papercut itself; as photographs which capture distorted shadows that take on a life of their own and, as in her projects with a number of musicians, gently animated, fluid stories. Find out more about Klara’s work here.

About David Le Page

David Le Page began playing the violin at the age of seven. He was offered a place at the Yehudi Menuhin school aged twelve and has since forged a diverse career as a performer, composer, producer and arranger. Le Page’s violin playing has a natural, warm tone and an instinctive, improvisatory style. A passion for audience inclusion and a readiness to blur the edges of musical boundaries have contributed to his unique approach to programming. Find out more about David here.

A special performance for Farnham Craft Month.
