Location

University for the Creative Arts Foyer Gallery

I am one of the Artist in Residence at UCA and I am running a free workshop showing you how to make a picture using a technique called ‘blind emboss’. Blind embossing is a printing technique that doesn’t use ink, resulting in a raised picture. If you are familiar with braille where a series of dots are raised, then this is the same effect you will get with embossing.

At the end of the session you will go home with your embossed print and a small mount frame to put your print into when it is dry – this technique requires the paper to be damp and so it will need to dry overnight.

You need no experience of printing to do this workshop and everything you need will be provided for you, – just bring you and a little imagination.

You won’t need to protect your clothes as we will be using very small amounts of water-based glue but do bring an apron or wear old clothes if you wish.

There is a maximum of ten participants for this workshop.

Children over the age of 10 are welcome providing they are with an adult.
