Local businesses had further reason to feel proud following the
customer services awards in November. The results of independent
research into customer experience with over 50 of Farnham's
retailers and businesses showed that many of them were already
offering customers an excellent experience and that many more
were well on the way. Farnham Town Council commissioned the
research to help the local economy's resilience at a time when it
has become hard for high street businesses to remain competitive
against the internet.

support from the South Street Trust and the Community Grant
scheme. Between them they support art education projects,
initiatives to support people with disabilities, leisure facilities,
heritage projects and help for people in need to name but a few.
Farnham Town Council administers these funds.
With volunteering a key part of a healthy community life, the annual
Services to Farnham Awards celebrate and recognise the enormous
contribution made by volunteers to the town. Each of the 11
volunteers who received an award was nominated by one of their
fellow residents or peers. The 11 winners were just a selection of
the dozens of volunteers nominated overall. They were rewarded
for volunteering in, among others, the areas of history and culture,
inspiring young people, the environment, fundraising and supporting
vulnerable people.
Local businesses and organisations were called upon to join a
