Farnham Food Festival serves up a feast in new Brightwells Yard location
Thousands flocked to Farnham for a feast of food, drink and entertainment as the town’s Food Festival enjoyed a hugely successful first year at Brightwells Yard.
The 18th annual Farnham Food Festival brought the town centre alive on Sunday (27 September), with more than 100 food and drink stalls and live entertainment spread across Brightwells Yard, The Borough, East Street and the Bush Hotel Courtyard.
The festival’s new home at Brightwells Yard proved a hit, with the main square packed with visitors throughout the day. One of the main attractions was the popular cookery demonstration stage, where chefs shared recipes, cooking tips and inspiration with enthusiastic crowds.
Councillor Kika Mirylees, Lead Member for Culture and Business at Farnham Town Council, said: “What a fantastic day. It was wonderful to see thousands of people enjoying Farnham Food Festival and making the most of everything our town has to offer.
“Brightwells Yard was a fantastic new location for the festival and created a real buzz throughout the day. It gave us a great new focal point while still allowing the festival to spread across the town centre.
“The feedback we have received has been incredibly positive, and we are delighted with how well the new location worked. A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible including our main sponsors Kidd Rapinet, Make it Farnham and the Bush Hotel, stallholders, chefs, volunteers, businesses and everyone who came along to enjoy the festival.”
With thousands of visitors enjoying the festival and strong support from local businesses, community groups, sponsors and volunteers, this year’s event has cemented Farnham Food Festival’s place as one of the highlights of the town’s annual events calendar.
Farnham Town Council’s next major event in the calendar is October Craft Month which launched on 3 October at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). The launch will feature workshops, demonstrations, drop-in sessions, exhibitions and opportunities to meet independent makers.
