Free day out at Picnic in the Park

Lots of people siting on grass enjoying a music festival and picnic

Picnic in the Park is expected to draw over a thousand music fans to Gostrey Meadow when the event takes place on Sunday 30 June. The Mayor of Farnham will officially open the show at 12pm. A packed programme of live music will follow, with acts performing back-to-back until the event closes at 7pm.

“Picnic in the Park in Farnham is a fantastic free day out for all the family. It’s a popular event each year, not least because of the relaxed community atmosphere and brilliant music,” says Councillor Alan Earwaker, the Lead Member for Tourism and Events. “Just bring your blanket or chairs, a picnic and sit back and enjoy. We also have some excellent food and drink stands to choose from if you prefer to indulge in something freshly prepared.”

As well as the music and food, there are activities available throughout the day for children and young people. Thanks to Kidd Rapinet sponsoring the summer programme of events and Durham House supporting Picnic in the Park as a bronze sponsor, this year will see even more funfair rides for younger children, a circus skills area and rock climbing.

The 2019 musical line-up includes Farnham Big Band, the ever popular crowd-pleasers Vic Cracknell’s Swing Band, Farnham Ukulele Jam and two performances from the Choirs of Farnham which includes the Rock Choir, Farnham Flash Festival Choir and In Accord. New for this year is Megan Linford and Band, plus a musical theatre performance from Farnham Music and Drama.

Free parking is available on Sundays in all Waverley Borough Council pay and display car parks.
