A consultation is underway to seek people’s views on Farnham Town Council’s modified Neighbourhood Plan.

The partial review of the made Farnham Neighbourhood Plan was driven by a requirement to provide an additional 450 dwellings in Farnham by 2032. Over the past year, Farnham Town Council has carried out an extensive and thorough review with the community to identify suitable sites for development.

Councillor Carole Cockburn, Leader of Farnham Town Council says: “Despite this review coming so soon after the original plan was adopted, I am grateful to everybody who has taken the time to get involved and have their say on the revised plan. We have listened to comments and have acted on what people told us about the proposed sites.”

The partially reviewed Farnham Neighbourhood Plan has been submitted to Waverley Borough Council which is the local planning authority. The borough council has begun a six-week technical consultation during which people are encouraged to show their support for the minor modifications to the existing made plan.

Councillor Cockburn says: “The technical consultation is an important part of the process as comments received go directly to the independent examiner, who will determine whether the reviewed plan complies with Basic Conditions. It is important that the examiner receives positive words of support for the reviewed plan from across the town.”

The statutory consultation started on Thursday 7 February and will end at 11.59pm on Thursday 21 March 2019. The revised Neighbourhoood Plan, updated evidence and a link to the online consultation can be found at www.farnham.gov.uk/shapefarnham.
