Shoppers get the pick of the crop

Shoppers can expect to find the best of the harvest from new stallholder T&G Vegetable Gardens at this month’s Farnham Farmers’ Market.

Taking place in Central car park, off Victoria Road on Sunday 28 October from 10am to 1.30pm, the market brings together dozens of local food producers selling fruit, vegetables and meats as well as dairy products, baked goods, fresh food and numerous pantry items. Non Such Shrooms who sell different varieties of mushrooms and Clever Bean Chocolate will also be at the market.

“At this time of year, high flavour vegetables like fennel, rocket, beetroot and radishes are great and we tend to see game at our butchers’ stalls too. They are joined by robust greens like kale as well as produce you might not see so much of in the supermarket,” says Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events at Farnham Town Council. “Getting your five a day at this time of year is so easy at our Farmers’ Market so please come along if you haven’t been for a while.”

From fruit sellers, shoppers can expect the pick of the crop of apples and pears and possibly even quince. Shoppers who like to plan ahead will be able to place orders for Christmas produce and pick up their supplies from the market on 23 December.

This month’s refreshments tent will be run by Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society. Live music will be provided by the ukulele band UKAN Hop.
