Grant for creative opportunities

A project aimed at developing the artistic skills of 70 people is to be made possible by a grant from the South Street Trust.

Creative Response, Farnham will be working with an artist who will teach participants how to make wire sculptures. Through arts-related activities, the charity aims to relieve people with mental health or substance abuse problems.

On behalf of the South Street Trust, the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor John Ward presented the cheque for £850. He said: “Farnham Town Council acts as the trustee of the South Street Trust and every year awards around 25 grants totalling approximately £20,000. To be successful a project needs to demonstrate that it will involve creative input and be of educational value to the students involved. Creative Response was certainly able to meet the criteria with their project and I am delighted that the Trust has been able to support this very worthwhile organisation.”

The project will culminate in an exhibition that will be held as part of Farnham’s Craft Month in October.
