Rugby Festival comes to Farnham

Farnham Town Council has agreed to grant £2,000 towards a unique event that is being held in Farnham.

From 17 to 20 September, Farnham will host the European Veteran Rugby Association (EVRA) Festival. The Festival, which coincides with the start of the Rugby World Cup, will see twenty-five European rugby teams coming to Farnham for a weekend of rugby and entertainment.

The organisers want the event to be enjoyed by the whole of Farnham and have arranged free shuttle buses to ferry Farnham residents to and from Farnham Rugby Club. Large screens will show England play Fiji during the opening game of the World Cup and other matches during the weekend.

Cllr Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “It is marvelous that the EVRA Festival is being held in Farnham and that it falls during the middle of our Feast of Food. Not only will players get to enjoy Farnham Rugby Club’s excellent ground but they will also get to experience some wonderful English food, wine and beer.”
