£20,000 in grants for free school holiday activities for local children

Children and young people across Farnham will be able to enjoy a packed programme of free activities during the school summer holidays thanks to £20,000 in grants from Farnham Town Council.

Farnham Town Council has awarded funding to local charities and community organisations to provide free holiday activities for children and young people of all ages, with a particular focus on supporting families experiencing financial hardship.

The programme offers a wide variety of activities designed to keep children active, engaged and entertained throughout the school holidays while helping to ease the financial pressures associated with the long break.

Councillor George Murray, Leader of Farnham Town Council says: “Every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy their school holidays, make new friends and experience new things, regardless of their family’s circumstances. By supporting trusted local organisations, we’re helping to ensure that children who might otherwise miss out can access exciting activities close to home.”

Some of the projects which have been enabled by the grants include a professional artist working with young people and their families, day trips to a local farm for families supported by Hale Community and Youth Centre, activities and trips tailored to young people at 40Degreez and community events for families that live at The Chantrys.

There is also a host of free holiday clubs and activities across the town, plus free theatre performances, community days at the Rural Life Living Museum, guided walks to introduce children to the fascinating world of bees, subsidised summer tennis camps and more.
