The trail begins here in Farnham (at the junction with the A31 – just south of the railway station) and ends at Dover. There is also an opportunity to explore the historic Cathedral City of Canterbury within the trail.
The first stretch of the trail runs to Guildford, across the Hog’s Back and has stunning, breathtaking, panoramic views over the countryside. The trail then passes through the village of Puttenham, taking in the Watts Chapel, before reaching Guildford. The trail from Farnham to Guildford is approximately 10 miles.

Along the route, you will pass 3 cathedrals, castles, palaces, stately homes, ancient sites and endless defensive fortifications. Much of the Downs are covered with woodland and rare chalk grasslands, which allows production of a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
In discovering the Downs you will fall upon typical English villages steeped in history - all of them offering a warm welcome to the visitor.
