History and Heritage

Farnham is a town that successfully combines the old with the new. Although today Farnham is a busy, thriving town, you'll miss much of its character if you ignore its history.

Farnham has a Castle and Parish Church dating back to the 12th Century and was the home of the first Cistercian Abbey to be founded in Britain. Farnham Castle, Church (known as St Andrew's Parish Church) and Abbey (know as Waverley Abbey) can all be visited today.

To view Farnham in the past a trip to the Museum of Farnham and Rural Life Centre are enjoyable for all.

Farnham is extremely proud of its history and enjoys sharing it with its visitors.

This section of the website showcases the best of Farnham's heritage and history.
