Farnham has a range of walking opportunities from a 5 min stroll around the town centre exploring the hidden flower filled yards, to a stroll amongst some of the most beautiful countryside in Southern England. Farnham is ideally situated for a long distance hike being at the start of the North Downs Way National trail and at the end of the St Swithun's Way Pilgrims' trail.

The town centre itself has a number of short walks, whether you are looking for a guided town walk that explores Farnham’s history, architecture and points of interest or if you would like something a little spookier try a ghost walk of Farnham.
If you are after something a little more at your own pace- the self guided heritage trail is a great way to explore Farnham and learn about the history of the town.

The scenic heathland and woods which surround Farnham have long been a popular destination for walkers.
Moor Park Heritage Trail is a distance of some 1.4km (0.9miles) – a relatively short walk outside the town centre that contains ten thousand years of history!
For a walk in the woods, Alice Holt Woodland Park is an ideal place . There are waymarked trails or you can simply make your own up as you go.
The Ramblers Association also have walks in the local area. You won’t believe how quickly you leave urbanisation and feel a total sense of freedom. For more information visit the Ramblers Association website.
Suggested Local Walks in the Countryside
The countryside surrounding Farnham is a spectacular mix of heathland and woodland and can be explored through following one of the three walks below. All three walks begin and end at Frensham Great Pond Visitor Centre with its ample parking and summer refreshments.
The Frensham walk is approximately 5 miles and explores the attractive village of Frensham and takes you along the River Wey.
The Tilford walk is approximately 7 miles and takes you past Frensham Little Pond to the medieval bridge at Tilford.
The Churt walk is approximately an 8 mile circuit around Churt past historic mills, ancient tumuli and breathtaking views across the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
