The picturesque countryside surrounding Farnham makes it an ideal place to cycle. The winding country lanes and crisscrossing cycle paths explore some stunning countryside and showcase inspirational panoramic views.
There are a number of cycle trails already devised, but Farnham is also ideally situated to pick up a map and plan your own route taking in some quaint country pubs for a relaxing break or a spot of lunch.
There is a cycle trail around Frensham Common which is made up of 2 loops. The first loop provides a short ride of roughly 1.5km while both loops together add up to approximately 5.5km of easy to moderately difficult cycling. Be warned though there is one short section that you might need to get off and push! Download the trail from Waverley's website.
Alice Holt Woodland Park also has a family cycle trail which passes through an interesting variety of woodland habitats from conifer plantation to mature broad leaf interspersed woodland clearings. There is a very attractive picnic meadow which provides a welcome rest midway along the trail. It also passes another parkland meadow beside Lodge Pond where you can hire a bike. The trail is approximately 3 miles off road, mostly surfaced with gravel and one grassy hill, halfway round the trail. For more information visit Alice Holt's website.
For other designated cycle routes visit the Farnham Cycle Networks website. The Farnham Cycle Network is a network of routes which are planned to increase the existing roads and byways, providing safe, convenient and pleasant bicycle access to central Farnham and the outlying towns.

Pedalling uphill is like pedalling on the flat – a real bonus on Leith Hill, the highest point in South East England, or one of the other varied routes created by Natural Discovery. Hire includes a route pack and accessories pack (with rain cape!). For more information visit Natural Discovery's website. At present the bikes are based in both Haslemere and Dorking.
